Camp Fitch YMCA Adventure Trips | Kids Out and About Chicago

Camp Fitch YMCA Adventure Trips

One week long adventure trips featuring backpacking, climbing, paddling, whitewater rafting, caving, SUP, and ziplining. All trips start at our base camp near Erie, PA and travel to select locations across the Mid-Atlantic. Parents can fly their child into Cleveland, OH or Erie, PA and we will facilitate pick up from there. Trips are for ages 10-17.

Camp Fitch YMCA is a great camp on a great lake!

Nestled on the shore of Lake Erie near Erie, Pennsylvania, Camp Fitch strives to make kids better forever through teamwork, servant leadership, and growth mindset.  We believe that kids at every age have the right to friendship, achievement, and belonging.

Adventure Trips

The main focus of this year is growing our adventure trips program that travels all around Appalachia.  We want everyone in New York State to know there is a new option for kids to explore and find adventure!

All trips start and end at Camp Fitch and for the most part, run one week in length (Sunday-Saturday).  Most trips feature hiking, whitewater paddling, climbing, and swimming.  Every trip has a unique activity specific to the location it visits.  For example, the Grayson Highlands trip features exploring a wild cave while the Northeast Beast trip features riding the cog railway up Mount Washington in New Hampshire.

Trips vary on difficulty by age:

  • Level 1 (ages 9-11)
  • Level 2 (ages 12-14)
  • Level 3 (ages 13-16)
  • Level 4 (ages 14-17)
  • Level 5 (ages 16-17)

Traditional Camp

If you are looking for a calmer experience, traditional summer camp sessions are also offered weekly throughout the summer and highlight activities such as archery, sailing, horsemanship, climbing, and many others!

Financial Assistance and Scholarship Information

We believe cost should not be the reason why a kid cannot attend camp.  Sometimes it is just a matter of conversation and what you can afford.  We would love to talk to you about those opportunities.
