Camp Kesem at Northwestern University
Ages for which our activities are most appropriate:
Camp Kesem at Northwestern University provides a week of camp, completely free of charge, to children ages 6-18 who have been affected by a parent's cancer. The camp is run by trained undergraduate students at Northwestern University, though licensed nurses and mental health professionals are present throughout the week of camp. We foster a safe environment for these children to connect with others who understand them in ways their everyday peers cannot. We not only aim to give our campers a week of carefree childhood filled with laughter, friendship, and smores, but also a comfortable space where they can express their emotions and struggles without any judgment. Camp Kesem provides an incredible resource to a community of wonderful, courageous children and we would welcome anyone who may benefit to reach out and join our Kesem Family. We believe it's the best week of the year for both the counselors and campers!
